Celebrating 30 years of her classic album A Few Small Repairs, Shawn returns to the UK and Ireland for a rare tour. As she enters her thirtieth decade as a songwriter and performer, Shawn continues to reaffirm her status as a vital voice in music. Shawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut, Steady On. The following spring, Colvin took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, establishing herself as a mainstay in the singer-songwriter genre. Described as “a visceral new voice in Scottish Folk” Miwa was recently Musician in Residence at Alchemy Film & Arts and Connecting Threads where she developed new music exploring lesser-known histories and perspectives of the Scottish Borders and beyond. It’s an odyssey that spans choirs, strings and the music of the Andes, from Spanish caves to Estonian forests and all the way back to the basement in Nicolet, Québec, where Blais first imagined adventures. After 375 million streams and the biggest concerts of his life, the origins of mirador were remembrances from childhood. As a musical kid—and, even if he wasn’t fully aware of these things yet, as a queer person, with Tourette’s—Blais’ basement was his imaginary lookout, his “mirador,” from which he could dream the world. There, he’d browse in wonder through a Larousse encyclopaedia; he’d play with the family’s cheap Hammond organ and endlessly replay the same cassettes. Jasmine Jethwa’s music is shaped by a blend of Western and Indian influences and her South London upbringing, combining rich emotion with an instinctive sense of melody and harmony. Growing up, she was immersed in sound and movement, training from a young age in contemporary, jazz and ballet. That physical relationship to rhythm still runs through her songwriting, giving her songs a sense of momentum and emotional pull. Her earliest musical memories come from long car journeys soundtracked by artists such as David Gray, Tracy Chapman, Dido, The Eagles and the Gipsy Kings. Those records left her with a lasting love of acoustic, guitar-led music. Alongside this, watching Bollywood films with her Gujarati grandmother introduced her to Hindi melodies and vocal traditions that subtly inform her expressive vocal style. Jasmine’s songs blend folk-tinged acoustic pop with a reflective, inward-focused and honest sensibility. As she prepares her next release, she is leaning further into the mysticism that runs through her music, creating songs that feel both intimate and transportive, rooted in feeling as much as form. The Khio Trio explores the music of Armenian life, casting a contemporary light on ancient stories of land, diaspora, and spirituality. The convergence of Lucine Musaelian’s Armenian identity, Oliver Dover’s command of traditional wind instruments, and Fred Thomas’ improvisatory powers creates a sound rooted in tradition yet alive to Armenian themes of renewal and regeneration. Traditional mountain dance music sits alongside songs of love and exile, while haunting chants dating back to the 10th century are reworked, revealing a faith still embedded in Armenian spiritual life. Featuring award-winning vocalist Imogen Ryall and an all-star rhythm section—John Turville (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass) and Matt Fishwick (drums)—the concert brings fresh life to timeless songs including ‘Summertime, I Loves You Porgy’ and ‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’ narrated and reimagined with hard bop grooves, lush ballads and Latin fire, the performance transports audiences to 1930s Charleston to follow the story of Porgy and Bess. Combining Gershwin’s original spirit with influences from Miles Davis, Gil Evans and Blue Note’s golden era, this is world-class jazz: dynamic, soulful and captivating. Chris Coull Chris Coull has forged a diverse and respected jazz career spanning performance, arranging, education and promotion. Originally from Manchester, he won the YTV Prize for Jazz Arranging before becoming musical director at Doha Jazz during the 2000s. For the past fifteen years he has become a major figure on the Brighton and Hove jazz scene, founding the highly successful Speakeasy Jazz Club and curating the long-running Jazz at St Andrews concert series. Through these platforms he has presented leading UK artists including Clare Martin, Tony Kofi and Alan Barnes, alongside internationally renowned guests such as Ralph Moore and Howard Alden. JANUARY BLUES FESTIVAL 2027 presents ERIC BIBB + special guests: TBC The January Blues Festival celebrates it's 10th anniversary year with the welcome return of bluesman Eric Bibb. With a career spanning five decades, over forty albums, three Grammy nominations, a multitude of Blues Foundation awards and countless more accolades, Eric Bibb has secured his legacy as a legendary figure in the blues and roots genre. Born into a lineage of activism, Eric's father, the late Leon Bibb, was a key figure in the civil rights movement, marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King. Immersed in the Village folk scene during his youth, Eric Bibb found inspiration in the visits of luminaries like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger. Influenced deeply by the sounds of Odetta, Richie Havens, and Taj Mahal, he synthesized these elements into a style uniquely his own. Beyond conventional genres, Eric Bibb is labeled a bluesman, but he defies categorization, seamlessly sliding between musical realms. Grounded in the folk and blues tradition with contemporary sensibilities, Bibb's music reflects his thoughts on current world events and his own lived experiences, whilst remaining entertaining, uplifting, inspirational and relevant.
