Forging a career over four decades in countless genres, Devin Townsend has reached cult status in the progressive-metal world for his polymathic talent and continual pushing of the envelope. In 2025, after a career including iconic performances at Royal Albert Hall and multiple world tours, Townsend announced an indefinite hiatus from touring. Having then delivered the live debut in Groningen of ‘The Moth’, his most ambitious work to date, it was only natural to need a break. Townsend returned home to complete the studio album of ‘The Moth’ (out 29th May on InsideOut Music) and to rebuild himself in preparation for the next stage. According to Townsend; “The Moth feels like the culmination of all my musical experiences and my journey in life so far. Marcelo Bratke Book Now Home / Events / Marcelo Bratke About the artist Marcelo Bratke began his piano studies at 14 with Zélia Deri and made his orchestral debut just two years later with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra under Eleazar de Carvalho, earning the APCA Revelation Pianist Award. He made his European debut at the Salzburg Festival in 1988 and has since performed at leading venues worldwide, including Sala São Paulo, Wigmore Hall, Suntory Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Carnegie Hall. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Alexander Lazarev, Isaac Karabtchevsky, and John Neschling, as well as artists including Julian Joseph and Milton Nascimento. In 2008, he founded Camerata Brasil, an orchestra of young musicians from underprivileged backgrounds, which has performed internationally. Bratke also created the Cinemúsica project with visual artist Mariannita Luzzati, and the Villa-Lobos Worldwide Project, dedicated to promoting the composer’s work through recordings and performances. Alongside his performance career, he is an active broadcaster and filmmaker, hosting the radio program Alma Brasileira and producing multiple television series on classical music. In 2017, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit (Commander) by the Brazilian government for his contributions to music and culture. About the performance Marcelo Bratke presents a captivating performance blending cinema and the sound of popular Brazilian music. The visuals include a 15-minute documentary capturing a tour by Marcelo Bratke and Mariannita Luzzati, who performed in 10 Brazilian prisons. This is followed by the multimedia concert itself, bringing the sense of liberation experienced by the prisoners to the audience. Perfume Genius is the moniker of artist Mike Hadreas. Hadreas began his music career in 2008 and released his debut album, Learning, in 2010 via long-time label home Matador. The album immediately captured critics’ attention, with Pitchfork praising its “eviscerating and naked” songs, marked by “heartbreaking sentiments and bruised characterizations delivered in a voice that ranges from an ethereal croon to a slightly cracked warble.” These descriptors became the hallmarks of Perfume Genius - Hadreas’ unique ability to convey emotional vulnerability not only lyrically, but with his impressively nuanced vocals. In 2012, Hadreas released Put Your Back N 2 It, further growing his audience and critical acclaim. His 2014 album, Too Bright, marked a bold evolution in production and confidence. Co-produced by Adrian Utley of Portishead, it featured the standout single “Queen,” which quickly became a queer anthem and powerful statement of identity. Hadreas later performed the track on Late Night with David Letterman. In 2017, Perfume Genius released the GRAMMY-nominated No Shape, a breakthrough album that expanded his global fan base and brought mainstream recognition to his art. Produced by Blake Mills (Fiona Apple, Alabama Shakes), the record earned high praise, with The New Yorker noting, “The center of his music has always been a defiant delicacy—a ragged, affirmative understanding of despair. No Shape finds him unexpectedly victorious, his body exalted.” During the album’s campaign, Hadreas appeared on multiple late-night shows and graced the cover of The Fader. In 2020, Hadreas released Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, a critical masterpiece on Matador Records that garnered worldwide acclaim. Produced by GRAMMY winner Blake Mills, the album featured contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, Jim Keltner, Pino Palladino, Matt Chamberlin, Rob Moose, and longtime collaborator Alan Wyffels. It explored and subverted concepts of masculinity and traditional roles, introducing distinctly American musical influences.Hadreas promoted the album with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (“Jason”), The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (“Whole Life”), and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (“On The Floor”). He followed with Ugly Season, a project born from his collaboration with choreographer Kate Wallich on The Sun Still Burns Here, a dance piece commissioned by Seattle Theatre Group and Mass MoCA and performed across major cities in 2019. The release included a stunning 30-minute film, Pygmalion’s Ugly Season, created with renowned visual artist Jacolby Satterwhite, blending surreal visuals with Hadreas’s music. Featuring award-winning vocalist Imogen Ryall and an all-star rhythm section—John Turville (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass) and Matt Fishwick (drums)—the concert brings fresh life to timeless songs including ‘Summertime, I Loves You Porgy’ and ‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’ narrated and reimagined with hard bop grooves, lush ballads and Latin fire, the performance transports audiences to 1930s Charleston to follow the story of Porgy and Bess. Combining Gershwin’s original spirit with influences from Miles Davis, Gil Evans and Blue Note’s golden era, this is world-class jazz: dynamic, soulful and captivating. Chris Coull Chris Coull has forged a diverse and respected jazz career spanning performance, arranging, education and promotion. Originally from Manchester, he won the YTV Prize for Jazz Arranging before becoming musical director at Doha Jazz during the 2000s. For the past fifteen years he has become a major figure on the Brighton and Hove jazz scene, founding the highly successful Speakeasy Jazz Club and curating the long-running Jazz at St Andrews concert series. Through these platforms he has presented leading UK artists including Clare Martin, Tony Kofi and Alan Barnes, alongside internationally renowned guests such as Ralph Moore and Howard Alden. With a career spanning five decades, over forty albums, three Grammy nominations, a multitude of Blues Foundation awards and countless more accolades, Eric Bibb has secured his legacy as a legendary figure in the blues and roots genre. Born into a lineage of activism, Eric's father, the late Leon Bibb, was a key figure in the civil rights movement, marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King. Immersed in the Village folk scene during his youth, Eric Bibb found inspiration in the visits of luminaries like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger. Influenced deeply by the sounds of Odetta, Richie Havens, and Taj Mahal, he synthesized these elements into a style uniquely his own. Beyond conventional genres, Eric Bibb is labeled a bluesman, but he defies categorization, seamlessly sliding between musical realms. Grounded in the folk and blues tradition with contemporary sensibilities, Bibb's music reflects his thoughts on current world events and his own lived experiences, whilst remaining entertaining, uplifting, inspirational and relevant.
