Whilst recovering in hospital from a devastating assassination attempt in 2022, renowned author Salman Rushdie looks back at his life and career in this deeply personal documentary. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney ( Taxi to the Dark Side ) and inspired by author Salman Rushdie’s bestselling memoir Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder , this profoundly personal documentary explores Rushdie’s life, career and recovery following a harrowing assassination attempt in 2022. The film includes never-before-seen footage shot by Rushdie’s wife, American poet, novelist and visual artist Rachel Eliza Griffiths , in the time following the attack offering an unflinching and deeply intimate account of his remarkable recovery and optimism for the future.
