Niki, a young piano tuner and apprentice to octogenarian Harry, suffers from an extreme auditory sensitivity. This hyperacusis aids his work but when Harry falls ill, it accidentally presents Niki with a way to pay mounting medical bills as he cracks safes for Uri and his suspect security firm. The central relationship between Niki and concert pianist and aspiring composer Ruthie rings true in its complexity as the tension builds. Stylishly shot with snappy editing and a cracking score, this debut feature cleverly combines taut suspense and relationship drama in present day New York. Contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
