Book yourself a free ticket for this discussion to accompany the screening of The Searchers at Filmhouse, Thursday 10th September. After the film we will move to Room 3.5 (in between Filmhouse Screens 3 & 4) for a discussion on John Ford’s western and see why it has proved so significant to film thinkers (Peter Wollen, Robin Wood, Robert B. Pippin), filmmakers (Martin Scorsese, Michael Cimino, Wim Wenders), and even artists (Douglas Gordon). The conversation will be led by Tony McKibbin, who teaches in the Centre for Open Learning at the University of Edinburgh. Early booking advised as numbers are limited.
Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
