On a dark and stormy night, a group of strangers become stranded at the remote mansion of the eccentric and grieving Mrs. Gert Hammond. As they take shelter from the storm, the guests reveal increasingly bizarre personal histories and secrets, while the arrival of an unusual stranger with a mysterious past adds to the night’s strange events. Meanwhile, rumours of a killer gorilla on the loose heighten the atmosphere of absurd danger. Curt McDowell’s underground cult classic combines the conventions of the old dark house horror film with camp comedy, surreal melodrama, and explicit sexuality. Created within the San Francisco underground scene and featuring contributions from filmmaker George Kuchar, it is a wildly unconventional collision of exploitation, parody, and avant-garde experimentation.

Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
