Newborn babies are disappearing across a nameless city, abducted by the Invisible Woman and delivered to a monstrous underground master searching for an imperial heir. Standing in her way are Wonder Woman, a masked vigilante hiding her identity from her police-inspector husband, and Thief Catcher, a shotgun-wielding mercenary willing to work for whoever pays. As their shared histories emerge, the three women are drawn together against an enemy commanding an army of killers beneath the city. Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung join forces in Johnnie To’s delirious collision of superhero fantasy, wuxia action, gothic horror and Hong Kong New Wave style. Produced and choreographed by Ching Siu-tung, THE HEROIC TRIO tears through motorcycle stunts, invisibility cloaks, flying blades, cannibalistic henchmen and spectacular wirework with the untamed invention of Hong Kong cinema at its early-1990s peak.
