After a violent confrontation leaves his wife dead, restless drifter Clint Ramsey flees across the American Southwest, drifting from one bizarre encounter to the next with a succession of larger-than-life women. As Clint attempts to outrun both the law and his own misfortunes, his journey becomes an increasingly surreal blend of sex, violence and absurd comedy. Written and directed by Russ Meyer, Supervixens is one of the defining works of the filmmaker's outrageous blend of sexploitation, satire and cartoonish Americana. Made in the wake of the commercial success of The Seven Minutes, the film sees Meyer return to the anarchic style that made him famous, combining kinetic editing, exaggerated performances and comic-book excess with a gleeful send-up of American machismo. It remains one of the most exuberant and influential films in the history of exploitation cinema.
