About this event
This display tells the story of the building hosting the Gallery of Modern Art. From a mansion in 1778 built using wealth made from industries reliant on enslavement, on what was then the most westerly point in the city, through times of great wealth from international trade, to innovations such as the city’s first telephone exchange, and on to Glasgow’s rise as a centre for art and culture, this building’s stones are steeped in history.
