Part of Sonica Glasgow 2026 Open Wednesdays to Fridays 12pm to 5pm Saturdays 12pm to 6pm Sundays 12pm to 5pm ( Closed Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 Sep) A new collaboration between video artist Zachi and composer and sound artist Itö considers the continuing state of crisis in Myanmar. Over the six years of the current civil war, the hillside town of Kalaw – accessed by the uneven, unsurfaced red earth roads that give their work its title – has become a site of escape, which in the artists’ installation signifies not retreat or defeat, but a necessary pause for survival, regrouping, and building resilience for a fight to come. Sand and earth are baked into Zachi’s images of Kalaw, with a soundtrack composed by Itö. This project is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture Programme.
