Part of Sonica Glasgow 2026 Since 2021, Young British Artist wunderkind Dinos Chapman’s solo practice has focused on drawing and painting, with savagely humorous works that subvert the seemingly innocent. In this new show of audiovisual works, Chapman explores a similarly complicated territory: the countryside. To a dark, pulsating electronic soundtrack, apparently bucolic landscapes fold in on themselves to suggest monstrous faces, while figures that split the difference between children’s toy and demonic poppets cavort in a psychedelic field. Forgotten folk rituals are being rediscovered again, and across Britain something buried is coming back to the surface. Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
