Part of Sonica Glasgow 2026 Following his appearance at Sonica 2022 as part of ReConvert, Roberto Maqueda returns with a solo project that reimagines percussion through air, pressure and automation. A set of drum machines is “played” without direct contact, activated by air through custom solenoid valves in a performance that blurs the boundaries between performer, instrument and machine. Accompanying visuals by new media studio Structurals, inspired by the appearance of sound waves on an oscilloscope, transform every bass thump and hi-hat twitch into intricate webs of light, creating a truly immersive audiovisual experience. Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
