Screening as part of IberoDocs 2026 . This screening will have descriptive subtitles, a short 5-minute introduction and a BSL-interpreted post-screening Q&A with Aqueronte director Manuel Muñoz Rivas. The journey is a passage and reflection ,a departure and arrival. In this selection of short films, journeys cross the border between life and death, between self and others, between vibrant stories and attentive ears and between intergenerational rituals. The point of arrival is the surface of the water that in all selected shorts leaves characters with questions, doubts and a promise of different beginnings. Once confronted with the current, past, present and future merge and we, as characters, or spectators remain the anchor points, held together by the act of viewing. FILMS FEATURED: Aqueronte (dir. Manuel Muñoz Rivas, Spain, 2023, 26 mins, Spanish w/ English subtitles) (Scottish Premiere) On board a ferry, a series of passengers cross a river from one riverbank to the opposite. The journey on the waters seems to expand, the destination shore is unexpectedly postponed, the magnitude of space is blurred. Chilapa Girl (dir. Juana Lotero López, Colombia, 2025, 17 mins, Spanish w/ English subtitles) (UK Premiere) Through observation, discover the story of Yulieth (10-13), a fishing girl, chilapa, brave and rebellious, who is transitioning into adolescence. She faces the difficulty of growing up in a wild territory on the border between Colombia and Panama, where natural beauty coexists with the hostility of machismo. While her developing identity is caught between the impulses of her dreams and her reality. The Garbage Man (dir. Laura Gonçalves, Portugal, 2022, 12 mins, Portuguese w/ English subtitles) On a hot August afternoon, the family gathered at the table remembers uncle Botão: the Colonial War, emigration to France, where he lived and worked thirty years as a garbage man.
