For the month of August, Mosaic Rooms welcomes 1000 Pounds to Survive Us ( B.U.I , Matt Cargill , Kareem Samara and Ayesha Hameed ) for a residency and takeover as part of sounding towards - - . Across the month, the band will use the gallery as a site of daily practice, playing in and with the building, and inviting other musicians, noisemakers and thinkers into the space to shape what follows. Throughout their takeover there will be listening and participatory sessions where visitors can see some of the processes and inspiration behind their practice. These will be announced at the beginning of each week via Mosaic Rooms’ Instagram page. Their time in the space is bookended by two improvised public performances. Upcoming: 5 August, 7pm Opening performance: 1000 Pounds to Survive Us stage their opening performance weaving together poetry, improvisation and sound as the band meets daily in the space, testing ideas and playing in and with the building itself. Expect a set shaped directly by that process of discovery. RSVP 27 August, 7pm Closing performance: The band's residency culminates in this performance, staged in the garden. The performance will reflect the weeks spent inviting other musicians and thinkers into the space to collaborate and respond, and a month spent listening, building and improvising together.
