NAKED BOYS READING: Alfred Celestine & the Celestials The little-known gay African-American poet Alfred Celestine (1949-2009) left behind a small body of work that is profound in its insights on race and gender in the human emotional field. His poems reveal an interior life of complexity and dream, that looks into a singular identity’s deep history. Black and homosexual, like several great artists, Celestine is a Queer literary beacon for today’s reader. And what could be more Queer than a bevy of exquisites reading selections from his work.
