LOGLINE: What happens when an Indian immigrant mother decides her adopted children deserve to know everything—their White birth mother, their Navajo father, and every complicated truth in between? Spanning 12 years, Love Chaos Kin is an intimate, patient, and humorous look at a transracial adoptive family redefining identity and belonging. SYNOPSIS: White twins Anjali and Meghna, adopted at ten months, are raised in an Indian American family rooted in Hindu traditions. Though loved and cared for, they yearn to know their White birth mother, Brandy. When Lakshmi, their adoptive mother, becomes pregnant unexpectedly, she recognizes the bond between biological parents and children, inspiring her to help her adopted daughters reconnect with Brandy and find their estranged Native American birth father. This journey forces Lakshmi to confront Brandy’s homelessness and struggles while challenging her daughters’ understanding of identity and belonging as they feel increasingly disconnected from their White, Indian, and Indigenous families.
Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
