Left alone in a hotel room with her younger sister, 17-year-old Mila ( Tamiris Zhangazinova ) joins an open-water swimming team led by an enigmatic coach. Set in contemporary Kazakhstan, Becoming follows Mila as she searches for stability amid her chaotic family life. Mila is soon drawn into Vlad’s ( Valentin Novopolskij ) swimming team, but the idyllic dream is soon revealed to be something different.
