‘Did you know this theatre is haunted?’ The Cinema of Tomorrow (F.K.A PEPCOT) presents the first of three screenings on the theme of ‘Movies at the Movies’. Goodbye, Dragon Inn (2003) is a beautiful, melancholic and funny exploration of intimacy and isolation over the course of the last day at a closing picture palace in Taipei City, Taiwan. Director Tsai Ming-Liang, master of the slow and closely observed, mourns the loss of the ‘sacred’ rituals of cinema going, from cruising to shelling peanuts in the dark. This is the first event (and therefore launch!) of Programmers of Tomorrow (PoT): A season of workshops and screenings for the future of film exhibition. Consisting of two free workshops, three fundraiser screenings and a film festival all-dayer, PoT will spread knowledge about film programming, build community around the love of movies, and facilitate first timers to put on their first ever public screening! The Cinema Museum is currently raising money to buy its amazing building and cement its place as the living archive of London’s cinema history. Doors will open at 6.30pm for drinks and snacks amidst the ephemera of cinemas past, showtime at 7.30pm!
