About this event

GLUE 2026 Gem Fletcher is joined by Gabby Laurent and Campbell Addy to reflect on the role of books within their practices, sharing insights from their experiences navigating independent and DIY approaches to publishing, as well as collaborations with institutions. Photobook publishing has grown exponentially over the last decade, and in this moment of abundance, they reflect on how we might retool or reimagine its mechanisms to better serve artists and audiences. Together, they explore how books function as creative tools, how they have navigated the often imbalanced power dynamics within publishing, and what an artist-led approach to publishing could look like. They will discuss the values they believe are critical for the next phase of photobook making and how publishing can evolve to better serve the communities it represents.
