FOLK AND ROOTS PRESENTS: Laura Targett & Luis Nicolás Fiddler and singer Laura Targett (AU/UK) meets guitarist and singer Luis Nicolás of Felpeyu (Spain) in a collaboration defined by deep musical rapport, traditional soul and creative fire. Together, they traverse traditional repertoire from Luis’s home in Asturias and Castilla y León, to Laura’s roots in Irish, Scottish, and Eastern European music, alongside contemporary works including music from Laura’s acclaimed debut album The Road to Tpot. Their medleys, songs, and original compositions pay heartfelt respect to their musical forebears while taking audiences on a wild ride through the spontaneous, relational magic that is possible between two kindred spirits in music. Both established and highly respected artists in their own right, their brilliant playing carries the imprint of years spent immersed in music across stages worldwide. Every vibrant ornament, every thrum of rhythm on strings and driving bass line is well-earned from the many years dedicated to their craft, a passion for traditional music and long nights spent playing tunes around the globe! On stage, Laura and Luis celebrate the spontaneity, intimacy, and pure joy of live music, full of spirit, exploratory, and vividly alive in the moment. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see them! Doors open 1.30pm. Music starts 2.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited, and available on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like a seat , we recommend arriving early!
Not the same tradition as the lineage above — a genuinely different thread to pull, if you want one.
