The underpaid female staff of a rundown San Francisco hotel discover the writings of Karl Marx and begin organising a revolt against their exploitative employers. Led by elevator operator Maxine, the workers fight back against low wages, poor conditions, and the abusive behaviour of the hotel’s management in this anarchic underground comedy. Created by members of the legendary San Francisco drag and performance collective The Cockettes, Michael Kalmen’s film is a surreal mixture of camp, queer underground cinema, political satire, and sexploitation.
