Directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes with Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave. Set against the brutal background of a modern Balkan war, this is a brilliantly visceral study of a complex military hero who has to choose between loyalty to his class and his country. About the season: People often say that if Shakespeare were alive today he would be writing for the movies. What is startling is how often, since the beginnings of cinema, his plays have been adapted for the screen. Following a highly successful season devoted to the work of Harold Pinter, Chiswick Cinema now focuses on the infinite variety of filmed Shakespeare and will accompany four major screenings with talks, supplementary showings and celebrity interviews.
