Celebrate the end of the week with a pre-dinner (6.30pm) or post-dinner (9pm) performance of Chopin, complete with a complimentary champagne reception (served from 30mins before). The brilliant piano music of the great Frédéric Chopin has never been out of fashion since it first burst onto the international scene in the early 19th century. This music wasn’t intended for the great concert halls of today, but for the intimate setting of Parisian and London Salons of the aristocracy. This was the setting where Chopin felt most at ease and improvised many of his works for the first time. Ballade no 1 in G minor Ballade no. 2 in F major Ballade no. 3 in A flat major Ballade no. 4 in F minor Christina Lawrie enjoys an exciting and varied career as soloist, song pianist and chamber musician. Career highlights include solo recitals for Wigmore Hall; Purcell Room; Leeds International Concert Season; St. George's, Bristol; Perth Concert Hall; Grieg Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and live performances for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland. Christina adores chamber music and the song repertoire. She collaborates regularly with artists including her violinist husband Marcus Barcham Stevens and baritone Stephen Varcoe, as well as many of the RCM vocal students. Along with violinist Harriet Mackenzie, Christina recently recorded a CD of music by Grieg, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. The CD was released in August 2018 on the Nimbus label. Christina is a graduate of Cambridge University, the RCM and RAM.
