About this event

A screening of three documentaries and artist films offering intimate perspectives on contemporary Chinese ceramics. The event features After Celadon, a documentary that examines contemporary ceramic art through the lens of transformation. The film follows four Chinese ceramic artists Xu Qun, Wu Hao, Lu Bin, and Chen Guanghui, alongside Swiss ceramist Philippe Barde and Japanese ceramist Matsui Toshio, as they journey deep into the ancient celadon heartland of Longquan to engage in a cross-cultural creative practice. Starting from tradition, they navigate between clay and glaze, form and meaning, continuity and reconfiguration, seeking possible pathways for ceramics in the present, responding to the whispers of history while pointing toward a rebirth of the future. The screening will also include the original edition of Imitation – Imitation and Mr Sea, both currently featured in the V&A display Dimensions: Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts.   Programme: AFTER CELADON  2025/30mins/Colour   TAN Hongyu IMITATION -  IMITATION 2016/20mins/Colour HAO Zhenhan MR SEA 16 mins 2014/17mins/Colour GENG Xue   Supported by Tiān Foundation
