The Brighouse and Rastrick Band bring their world-class brass sound to the Howard Assembly Room, blending championship-winning heritage with a famously entertaining repertoire. Formed in West Yorkshire as a public subscription band, The Brighouse and Rastrick Band has sustained a formidable competitive reputation for over a century. They are the 2025 British Open Champions and have previously held the majority of the premier brass band championship titles. While deeply rooted in the competitive brass circuit, the band achieved mainstream chart success in 1977. Their recording of The Floral Dance spent nine weeks at number two in the UK singles chart, selling over a million copies. The piece remains a staple of their repertoire today as a regular encore. In recent years, the ensemble has expanded its reach beyond traditional brass repertoire through collaborative projects. These cross-genre performances have included work with folk artists Kate Rusby and The Unthanks, as well as classical actor Simon Callow. Their concerts are programmed to appeal to both dedicated brass enthusiasts and newcomers looking for a distinct live music experience. In partnership with Hurricane Promotions.
