Discover the story of Glasgow’s Salaam Festival truck art van, created by Afshan Abid with students and now on display at Riverside. In this illustrated talk, Senior Curator Heather Robertson delves into the Glasgow Salaam Festival 1997 archives to uncover the story behind one of its standout projects: a Daihatsu Hijet van transformed in the vibrant tradition of South Asian truck art by artist Afshan Abid and Glasgow art students. Heather will introduce the van, now on display at Riverside Museum, and highlight beautiful examples of genuine truck art held at Glasgow Museums Resource Centre.
