While baby-sitting in a hotel, a beautiful woman begins a flirtation with one of the hotel's guests. Rebounding from a breakup with his girlfriend, he's willingly seduced by the baby-sitter and ends up in bed with her. When the child wakes up and disturbs their lovemaking, the baby-sitter reveals homicidal tendencies and terrorizes them both. A frightening and provocative exploration of a murderer's mind. Released just before her major film breakthrough in 1953 with Niagara , Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire , Don't Bother to Knock sees Marilyn Monroe star in her first co-leading role - despite having acted in 12 previous features including The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve . Initially criticised upon release, the film has been re-evaluated in the years since and is considered to feature some of Monroe's finest acting.
