He studied at the City of Edinburgh Music School before continuing his training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he worked with Leon Bosch and Nikita Naumov. He is a member of the Sinfonia Smith Square Fellowship Orchestra, performing regularly as part of its concert series. Max performs as both a soloist and chamber musician, with an interest in performing new music aswell as enjoying the classics. In 2024, he gave the British premiere of the Walter Ross Concerto for Double Bass , performing on a double bass by Neal Heppleston.

David Grant brings back the group where he first found fame in 1980, LINX, for their first live shows in over 40 years! LINX were one of the main acts of the 'Brit-Funk' era with six hit singles between 1980-1982 with their biggest song 'Intuition' reaching #7 in the UK charts. Other hits included 'So This Is Romace', 'Throw Away The Key', 'Rise and Shine', 'Can't Help Myself' and their timeless classic debut single 'You're Lying'. LINX also contributed the track 'Don't Get in My Way' to the influential C81 compilation cassette released by New Musical Express magazine in 1981. David Grant went onto have huge success as a solo artist with songs such as 'Stop and Go', 'Watching You Watching Me', 'Could it Be I'm Falling In Love' (with Jaki Graham) and more. David has also appeared on the TV shows 'Pop Idol' and 'Fame Academy' as a judge/coach. Phil Fearon & Galaxy racked up a series of UK chart hits in the 1980's including 'Dancing Tight', 'What Do I Do', 'Everybody's Laughing', 'I Can Prove It' and more. An AGMP Concerts presentation. The majority of the musicians in the first and second lineups are or have been based in New York and Europe, providing additional excitement and energy from their diverse life experiences. The initial reunion band ignited Alice's compositional journey, influencing and inspiring her subsequent collaborations. Alice's debut album, 'Birdsong,' features songs first debuted at the Vortex, and she has subsequently embarked on two tours in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Collaboration and community are key aspects in Alice's lineups, and all of the musicians featured have embraced these characteristics with her throughout the years, resulting in deep creative connections. This concert will include both new material (which Alice will record with her sextet (including Alex Hitchcock, Alexandra Ridout, Noah Stoneman, Tijs Klaassen, and Wouter Kühne) this summer) and older material from "Birdsong."

Union Chapel has towered over Upper Street in Islington since the 1870s and today thrives as an award-winning venue, homelessness project and a working radical church. On the tour, led by an expert Islington Guided Walks guide, you’ll see this architectural gem up close and discover the building’s fascinating history. The Grade I listed Victorian Gothic Chapel is one of the largest Nonconformist churches in London. It houses an important Father Henry Willis organ that is one of few left in the UK with an original hydraulic blowing system, stunning stained glass windows and a distinctive octagonal interior built for acoustics and visibility. Take a tour and learn more about Islington’s heritage, the Chapel’s triumphant survival after a wartime bomb, and the fascinating story of its near demolition in the 1980s, at a time when Victorian architecture was only just being appreciated. Further Information & Access: The tour lasts approximately one hour from 12pm. The ground floor of the chapel is wheelchair accessible. Those following the tour to the Gallery level must be aware of multiple staircases to access as well as be comfortable with heights. The Spooky Men’s Chorale is a magnificent, many-headed beast which has single- handedly turned the world of men’s singing upside down. Bypassing well trodden avenues, they carve out new territories of mighty man sounds, exquisite tenderness, and charming stupidity to both celebrate masculinity and mock it. The Spooky Men’s Chorale is 25 this year, and this tour they will celebrate their birthday with some delightful crumpets from their shimmering, ludicrous history, as well as the usual smorgasbord of tantalising new bon bons. To see them is to forever not unsee them, they are just a bunch of blokes, but where they take you will blow your mind…. Drawing on the rich traditions of jazz history and global musical influences, he has developed a voice that is both original and compelling. Today, he joins forces with the brilliant rising star of the UK jazz scene, vocalist Annie Majin, for a performance that promises innovation, energy, and musical chemistry. Since graduating from London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Music - where he was invited on a full scholarship- Zhenya has carved a dynamic path between the London and New York jazz scenes. He has worked with some of today’s most forward-thinking musicians, including Eric Harland, Ambrose Akinmusire, Tim Lefebvre, Chris "Daddy" Dave, Alex Sipiagin, William Parker, Aaron Parks, Joseph "Foley" McCreary (of Miles Davis fame), and Larry Grenadier. Zhenya has performed at many prestigious jazz festivals and concert venues around the world, building an international reputation through extensive touring across both Europe and South America. He has recorded more than six albums with his groups Smiling Organizm, Never Group, and JZ Replacement. His music has been broadcast on BBC Radio as well as on national radio stations across Europe. An in-demand sideman, Pennington has performed and recorded with many eminent, international artists across genres including Helen Sung, Baptiste Herbin, Laura Jurd, Michael Dease, Alan Barnes, Dennis Rollins and The Flaming Lips among others. His considered and expressive musical contributions with various projects have garnered much positive acclaim, including from Downbeat Magazine (Howard Mandel): “Pennington’s a kick-ass drummer”. In October 2024, Pennington released his debut album 'This Is' on Hidden Threads Records. The album was described by Jazz Journal as “a highly listenable collection which in places harks back to the sound of American jazz from the 50s and 60s” and a “cinematic jazz voyage” by Plastic Magazine. Alasdair Pennington Quartet will perform a selection of original compositions as well as interpretations of contemporary jazz standards.
